Exploring the markets in Side and Manavgat is an essential experience, as shopping is one of the town’s highlights. Side offers an impressive variety of shops and markets where you can find nearly everything, from luxury watches and electronics to fresh, locally grown fruits and vegetables. Two official public markets in Side operate on specific days. These markets typically open around 8 a.m. and close by 5 p.m. Shopping at these bazaars is a smart choice, as the vendors incur lower costs, such as rental fees, compared to stores along the streets of Side. This allows them to provide better deals. So, let’s dive into what makes these markets a must-visit!
How to Visit Local Market
There are several ways to travel to the markets from your accommodation in Side. The quickest option is taking a taxi, though it is also the most expensive. Alternatively, you can use the local public transportation called "dolmuş," which serves all areas in and around Side. This is a more affordable option; however, dolmuş departure times are fixed, so missing one could mean waiting for the next. Additionally, returning to your hotel after shopping might be challenging with a dolmuş, as finding the stops and the correct route in the town center can be tricky. Another excellent option is the Windmill Excursions, which includes hotel pick-up and transportation directly to the Manavgat Market, then, you will be driven to your hotel at the agreed time.
